Frequently asked questions

What can I expect from counselling?

A safe, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. You can expect to work collaboratively with me to understand your challenges and develop strategies for positive change. Each session is tailored to your unique needs and goals. Exact goals may vary depending on the preferred type of therapy and the individual, but usually incorporate core aims, such as reducing distress, increasing self awareness, developing coping strategies, changing unhelpful patterns, improving relationships, supporting personal growth, and/or processing difficult experiences.

How does it work?

The counselling process typically begins with an initial consultation to discuss your needs and ensure we're a good fit. Following this, we schedule regular sessions, usually weekly, which will last around 50 minutes. We'll work at your pace, focusing on your specific concerns and we will review progress regularly. I can offer short term or longer term therapy.

What happens if I need to cancel?

As a general rule, I ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Full contractual terms will be discussed prior to beginning therapy.

Where will we meet?

North Wellbeing is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. I offer both in-person sessions at a comfortable, private practice location in Gosforth, and online sessions via secure video link, such as Teams or Zoom, providing flexibility and accessibility.

Is there anything really important I need to know before starting counselling?

It's important to remember that counselling is a collaborative journey that requires your active participation. While I provide my expertise and guidance, your commitment to the process is vital for meaningful progress. I encourage you to be open and honest about your expectations and concerns from the outset.

How would you describe your approach to counselling?

My approach at North Wellbeing is humanistic and integrative, meaning that I draw upon various therapeutic techniques to best suit your individual needs.
